- CONSTRUCTION OF NEW
OFFICE COMPLEX - Rs.52/- Lakhs

The project aims to
provide a State of the art Office Complex for the Cantonment Board to
enable more efficiency and effectivity in its working. New Office
Complex has been named Pragati Bhawan. It has modular section Rooms, visitor
rooms ,computer centre, Information and facilitation counter, cash counters,
Conference room, Inspection rooms and other basic amenities.

The new office complex has
been named as Pragati Bhawan. The modules on digitization of defence
land and records, Registration of Births and Deaths, Medicine Stock
Accounts and other office software are available. The construction work
started in October 2005 and has been completed by Aug 2006. The pragati
Bhawan has been inaugurated by Lt.Genl.Arvind Sharma, GOC in-C, Eastern
Command on 18th Sept, 2006.

- INDEPENDENT WATER
SUPPLY PROJECT - Rs.78/- Lakhs (The project has been completed and
is awaiting commissioning)

The project has been
conceived to cater to the pressing needs viz. ensure availability of
adequate drinking water availability of foolproof distribution network
and to be self reliant to ensure the supply and distribution of
drinking water to the needy public. The project consists of Semi
Underground Clear Water Reservoir of 2 lakh gallon capacity, Pumping
Mechanism and Distribution lines and sluice valves. The Work is in
process.

- A Modern Bus terminus
and line stall Complex

The Cantt Board has a Bus
Stand situated beside to the SDJM'S Court and sub Jail which has been
in operation since 1909. Hundred of buses ply day in day out from this bus
stand to various parts of Kolkata, Howrah and Barasat and this happens
to be the focal point of public transportation in Barrackpore Sub
division. The Market Stalls have been in existence since long and with
the passage of time the existing assets have got deteriorated. The
Cantt Board received sanction for construction of a state of art the
Bus terminus wherein the cost of the Bus terminus is around Rs. 1.80
Crores and is been met out of Cantonment funds as well as MPLADS. The
cost of line stall Complex being around Rs. 1.75 Crores shall be met
out of funds to be rised by auctioning of the commercial space/shops on
the basis of 30 years lease and on payment of 10 years rentals as
advance. The advance received shall be adjusted @50% in the monthly
rentals over a period of 20 years .
