The Board is empowered to levy penalties like imposition of fines and sending the offenders to judicial custody for further punishment while dealing with public nuisances.

Levy of penalties for breach of bye-laws pertaining to construction of buildings, practice of trades ad profession and other laws connected with maintenance of public health and hygiene.
 
  1. Recovery of taxes and arrears

The Board can initiate legal action against tax evaders by way of seizure of their properties issue of destructive warrant by competent officials and sale of attached immovable or immovable property of the defaulter.
