The registration of Births & Deaths
occurring in a Cantonment whether they take place in
army hospitals, Cantonment General Hospital or State
Govt. Hospitals as per the prevailing rules and regulations
is undertaken by Cantonment Board.
One LDC is entrusted with the job under the supervision
of Office Supdt. Registration of Births and deaths occurring
in the Cantonment are maintained as per instruction
of State Govt. authorities. Necessary certificates and
reports are dealt by this section.
Cantonment Board, Barrackpore maintains the registers
of births and deaths in the prescribed from as supplied
by the State Govt. authorities. The fees/charges are
levied for issuing birth/ death certificate as per state
Govt. Norms. The registration officer is the CEO, Cantonment
Board for the birth/death occurring in the Cantonment.
Citizens are required to submit the information to the
CEO, Cantonment Board, Barrackpore regarding birth or
death in the prescribed form supplied by the Cantonment
Board on payment of prescribed charges. The information
should reach the CEO within the prescribed time period
i.e. 21 days from the occurrence of birth or registration
can be done on late fee as prescribed along with an
affidavit showing the seasons for delay in submission
of the information in time and request for the registration
for birth or death. The affidavit should duly be forwarded
under the signature of class-1 Magistrate. The certificate
of birth is issued by the OS as per section 12 and
17 of birth and death registration act. 1969.

Certificate Charges
- Free of Charge - if the report is submitted within
21 days from
the date of Birth/ Death (As per sec.-12)
- Certificate charges- Rs.5/- (As per sec. -17)
- Late Fees - Rs.2/- (After 21 days but within 30
days)
- Late Fees - Rs.5/- (After 30 days but within 1 year)
- Late Fees - Rs.10/- (After 1 year)
- Searching Fees - Rs.2/- (for each year)
- Child Name Entry- Rs.5/- (if the child name is
registered after 1 year)
