The Cantonment Board, Barrackpore is
the oldest Cantonment, which was established in 1765
to cater to municipal needs and provide civic administration
to the people residing in Cantonment. Barrackpore cantonment
comprises of an area of 917.57 acres including civil
area of 60 acres. As per Census, 2001 the civil population
is 22,041 and military population is 2,500. It is a
Category- II Cantonment and the Board is constituted of 14 members.The Board functions in accordance with
the Cantonment Act. 2006.

Presently, Birg, Bobby Mathews,Station
Commander, Barrackpore is the President Cantonment Board.
Shri Sankar Basu is the nominated
member of the Cantonment Board. As the Board is in
a varied state, there are presently no elected Members.

by Central Govt. from Indian Defence Estates Services
(Central Services) and presently Shri K.V. Nagi Reddy,IDES,
Chief Executive Officer is the Member Secretary
of the board.
